When Is Laminoforaminotomy Recommended?
While not every neck-related issue calls for surgery, laminoforaminotomy is often suggested if:
- Non-surgical methods such as physical therapy or medication fail to resolve symptoms
- Tingling, weakness, or pain grows worse over time
- Neurological deficits (e.g., loss of sensation or muscle strength) arise due to persistent compression
Conditions leading to such nerve compression may include disc herniations, osteoarthritis in the cervical spine, or bone spurs (osteophytes) that encroach upon the foramen.
