I am a 69 year old male, who up until 5 years ago, walked 3-5 miles per day. Lower back pain became such an issue that I could hardly walk 100 feet before I had to stop. After consulting with 5 different neurosurgeons, with no positive results, Dr. Stieber was referred to me by a friend. The manner in which you diagnosed my orthopedic problem compelled to write to you. When I came to your office on 11/19/20 after an exhaustive search for an accurate diagnosis, I had previously received three contradictory evaluations and various treatments and yet continued to experience progressive worsening pain for 13 months.

Your examination and diagnostic scans revealed spinal problems that might have been the cause of my pain, which may or may not have to be addressed in the future. You didn't make an immediate recommendation for spinal surgery, but instead responded with, "Your body will let you know when it's time to address your spinal issues but I suspect your pain is coming from the hip". You referred me to Dr. William Long who proved your suspicion to be correct. He performed my total hip replacement on 1/13/21 with expert precision and care and I was free from the pre-surgical pain immediately post surgery.

It has been 5 weeks now since my surgery and I am rapidly moving toward total mobility, flexibility and strength. Your professional ethics and compassionate consideration led me down the correct path toward the restoration of my previous lifestyle.
